It is entirely possible I have an addiction to shoes. With this addiction, I tend to style my outfits around a pair of shoes. This is the case with these fabulous cobalt blue bow pumps from Aminah Abdul Jillil.

I first spotted these bow pumps in black on Pinterest last fall. I thought they were amazing but the last thing I needed in my closet at the time was another pair of black pumps. So, I followed Aminah Abdul Jillil on social media and watched for new designs. 

About one month ago Aminah Abdul Jillil announced a pre-order for new colors on the bow pump; cobalt blue, green and pale pink. I gasped when I saw the cobalt blue, after all, blue is my favorite color! They looked amazing on the website and I got really excited about snagging a pair for myself in blue! 

It took about one month to receive my cobalt blue bow pumps and I cannot be more thrilled. They are incredibly comfortable and the suede is extremely soft. Love that! I wore them out to dinner with my husband and snapped a few photos before we left to share with you. I cannot wait to find more outfits in my closet for these shoes!

One of the big shoe trends for the spring 2014 season is the d’orsay flat. As the height of heels comes down to Earth for the spring 2014, and casual styles such as slip-on sneakers and one inch stacked heels come into fashion, the flat takes on a middle-of-the-road style in the d’orsay.

D’Orsay flats are neither casual nor dressy; they are right in-between. This makes the d’orsay flat an easy style to invest in for the spring 2014 season. After all, the d’orsay flat can be worn with jeans to dress them down, or trousers for the office, or with a skirt to dress them up! Love that!

D’Orsay flats appeared on the spring 2014 runways in New York, Paris, Milan and London; but they did not dominate, nor did they make a huge impact. The d’orsay flat was noticed, and picked up by, store buyers who recognized they would be a fresh and versatile style for the spring 2014 season. Runway trend + street style trend = perfection!

The d’orsay flat is a good shoe investment for the spring 2014. As the key replacement for the ballet flat in spring 2014, the d’orsay flat is staying put on the fashion map as we move through the year into fall and winter. Therefore, the d’orsay flat in neutral colors and black, is the perfect investment not just for spring, but for all of 2014. If you are more interested in a seasonal shoe, the d’orsay flat in a pretty pastel or bright pink will be the perfect touch for the season.

Spring 2014 trends: crop tops

Crop tops came into fashion in 2013, and for spring 2014, the 1980’s style is back with a vengeance. Crop tops are everywhere for spring 2014 and being paired with skirts, shorts, skorts and pants in the same fabrication for a suit-like ensemble. In addition to being the top half of the “new suit,” crop tops are also being shown with workout clothing and as casual tee-shirts for a lazy weekend day.

There were fashion editors and insiders everywhere at New York Fashion Week sporting crop tops while attending the fashion shows for fall 2014. Despite the snow, these wearers of crop tops paired their spring 2014 “shirt of the season” with pants, skirts, tights and boots in an attempt to keep warm. The crop tops were often paired with a bottom made from the same fabric as the crop top. Matchy-matchy!

This is one trend from the 1980’s we have not seen make a resurgence in the last twenty-something years. Crop tops were hot for several years in the mid-1980’s to late-1980’s until the waistlines on denim began to sink below the waist and the hip hugger returned from the 1970’s. That was the death of the crop top.

We are starting to see waistlines on denim begin to rise, and as the waistline rises towards, gasp!, the waist, the crop top is gaining momentum as the new “it” shirt of the spring 2014 season; and most likely the summer 2014 season. This is one runway trend which is already a hit on the streets.
