It’s been beautiful in the city lately! This means we have enjoyed the ideal weather for dining on a rooftop. Love!

My daughter heard about Shelby’s Rooftop in the SOMA area of San Francisco. It is located inside the Hilton across from Yerba Beuna Gardens. Since my son had just graduated, we decided to celebrate with a rooftop dinner in the city.

The location is perfect for a relaxing evening in SOMA. We parked at 5th Mission Garage and walked about one block to the restaurant. Shelby’s is located inside the Hilton, so it’s easy to find on the top floor of the building. The restaurant itself has an indoor dining area with large windows and an outdoor patio. Of course, we had reserved a patio table.

While the patio table offered views, the set-up was more bar/lounge-like versus dinner-like. It was awkward to eat dinner on the outside tables. I’m not sure why they serve dinner on them. My daughter ended up putting her entree on her lap to eat. This was not ideal. You can see the table size. We had three, low tables and five people in our sitting area. Next time we go, we will sit inside where the normal tables are located.

That being said, the food was delicious! We all enjoyed our entrees and would definitely love to go back. Yum!

After dinner, we walked across the street to Yerba Beuna Gardens. It wasn’t crowded and we were able to enjoy the art and nice weather.

After enjoying the gardens, we went inside the Metreon and enjoyed some boba. If you are looking for a relaxing evening in SOMA, I recommend popping into Shelby’s Rooftop and then enjoying Yerba Beuna Gardens.

Oversize tee and barrel jeans for summer

Casual summer days, or should I say foggy summer days, are here! Summer fog is the perfect time to rock a pair of funky barrel jeans and a comfy, oversize tee.

I recently wore this combo out to lunch with my family. We enjoyed lunch at “It’s Dumpling Time” at the Stanford Shopping Center. It was really yummy, and fun to spend time with my college age children since they are home for summer vacation. Love!

Barrel jeans are a fun trend in denim this year, and I love how this pair can be ordered in various lengths and waist sizes. It makes it easy to find the right size without having to worry about alternations. Plus, they are really comfortable. Love that!

It will be fun to wear these jeans over the summer as well as into the fall and winter seasons. They are year-round jeans!

Also, if you like dumplings, It’s Dumpling Time has yummy xlb dumplings. I highly recommend them!

Casual summer night out

Now that summer weather has arrived, we are looking at restaurants with outdoor patios. When my oldest daughter arrived home from college, we decided to celebrate with a festive dinner out at Teske’s Germania in downtown San Jose.

Teske’s is a German restaurant with a covered outdoor patio and live music. They offer large portions of food, and beer. The wine list is good too. We enjoyed too much food, live music, and a festive vibe on the outdoor patio. It was a fun night out!

Since the restaurant is casual, I wore my favorite oversize tee, classic jeans and my city tote. It was perfect for the mild, summery weather.

If you are local to the Bay Area, I recommend checking out Teske’s Germania in San Jose. Be sure to bring cash! They have a small fee for using a credit card. Luckily, we had cash with us! haha
