David Tlale sent his spring/summer 2015 collection down the New York Fashion Week runway on September 7, 2014. The collection was filled with flowing fabrics, three-dimensional designs and a warm color palette. The collection fused together modern styling with a slight nod to the 1940’s, 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s through skirt silhouettes and necklines. The prints were fresh; and added a strong, powerful yet feminine  touch to the overall pieces.

David Tlale used Egyptian cotton, wool crepe, silk crepe, brocade, silk raffia, gold lame, chiffon, PVC and a fabulous bejeweled vlisco print throughout his collection. The asymmetrical lines, box pleats, peplum, flare pants, a-line silhouettes, hot pants and more inserted a little something for everyone and every occasion in the collection.

My favorite piece on the runway was the inverted box pleat skirt shown above. Fabulous! Also, watching Tyson walk down the runway in person, is another highlight of the show! Hawt!

The Academy of Art showed their spring/summer 2015 collections on September 6, 2014 at New York Fashion Week. The Academy of Art collections are near and dear to my heart. When I was a student at the University of San Francisco, I knew a lot of students who attended the Academy of Art and their work was always inspirational. I was mesmerized by their talent and how art was shaping the future. To see the Academy of Art’s collection presented live, across the country in New York for fashion week, isn’t only a treat, it is a proud Bay Area moment!

The spring/summer 2015 collections from Academy of Art, once again, push the boundaries of what we wear and how we wear it. The collections showed tonal dressing, mixes of texture, layers (a huge trend on the runways for 2015!) and longer hemlines (another huge trend!).

I wish my photos were better, but my seat was at a bad picture taking angle. To view the collection in its’ entirety, please watch the IMG Fashion video below.

Just like last season, I want to get my hands on the cozy sweaters from Academy of Art’s runway! I wish I could just walk into a store a buy one, but alas, I cannot. What is your favorite look from the Academy of Art runway?

Malan Breton showed his spring/summer 2015 collection at New York Fashion Week on September 7, 2015. The collection was filled with extraordinary fabrics, dramatic designs and traditional Chinese touches presented on a wide runway with live string musicians. It was more than a fashion show, it was a full-scale performance show!

The beautiful music, which alternated between a DJ and the live musicians, set the tone for a fabulous and energetic show. There were dancers who kicked off the show before the designs came down the runway and circled around the string musicians. The clothing flowed as the models walked the runway. There were trains, layers and lush fabrics. The men’s clothing offered a shrunken fit with cropped legs and form fitting silhouettes. The women’a clothing offered longer hemlines, layers and soft silhouettes. The color palette offered shades of blue, purple, red, yellow and classic black with touches of gold.

It was a beautiful collection and extraordinary show. To view Malan Breton’s spring/summer 2015 runway show in its’ entirety, please watch the IMG Fashion video below.
