Fall horizontal stripes

Horizontal stripes have always been a pattern I have been drawn to, so when they appeared as a strong trend for the spring 2017 season, (see spring 2017 trends from the runway online here), I was really excited! This short sleeve blouse with horizontal stripes for the fall 2016 season, instantly caught my eye; not because it is a spring trend, but because I loved the stripes pattern and silhouette!

Our weather during the fall season in the San Francisco Bay Area is mild. Temperatures swing between eighty degrees and sixty degrees, so a short sleeve top with jeans on casual days is perfect. If the fog rolls in, simply top the look with a lightweight jacket, and you are ready to take on the fall weather! Love that!

I love how this top has a swing silhouette which is reminiscent of the 1960s, and a colorful pattern with a 1980s vibe. This season is all about transitioning from a strong 1970s vibe, to a mixture of 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s influence; so this mix is a great way to go from fall 2016 into the new year. In the spring season, the 1980s will rise to become a more important influence then the 1970s on fashion and style. Start thinking ahead when you shop for next year!

Football game day colors

Football season is in full swing! If you have been following me on Instagram, you may have noticed in my stories that my son is playing Pop Warner football this season. As someone who loves football, it is so much fun to see my son enjoying the sport; and I love watching him play!

My only challenge with football season is finding burgundy clothing to wear on game day in order to cheer him on. His team colors are burgundy and silver. I own one handbag in burgundy, one pair of booties, and one top. Only. One. Top. How is that possible??? So, every Sunday I wear that same top, which you can see in an outfit post here, with jeans and sneakers. I seriously need to up my game day fashion game!

My son’s football team has won every game so far this season. It looks like they are heading to a Pop Warner bowl game at the end of the month! I need to get some burgundy to show my support. Here are a few burgundy pieces on my wish list for football game day. I need an alternate to the shirt I keep wearing!

Pro-Football game-day gear:

Since I am not as thin as I was two years ago, my Raiders and 49ers shirts are not exactly what you would call, “the right size.” Shhh! Sooooooo, it looks like I will need to size up since the seasons are already in full swing, and I have nothing to wear! My wish list items are in the shopping widget above. I also need to update my Warriors game day gear! Here are a few items I am looking at for the upcoming basketball season.

Basketball game-day gear:

Wish my son’s Pop Warner team luck! They have one more regular season game, and then it is bowl time! He is a second string lineman this season, but he has been getting some good play time. It is his first season, and he loves it, so next year maybe he will get even more play-time! There are a few players on his team who I can totally see in the NFL someday. I am so proud of his whole team! Wish them luck!

Velvet is one of my favorite fabrics. I love anything soft, and luxurious. Velvet is both of those things. With so many velvet choices out there for the fall season, I decided to go for a comfortable, oversize velvet blazer which can be worn casually.

When the velvet blazer trend starting taking the streets by storm in September, I was excited knowing I could pull my grey velvet jacket out of the closet which I purchased about fifteen years ago. I love how a velvet blazer or jacket can elevate a pair of jeans, and make an otherwise casual outfit look refined, and put together; yet velvet blazers are so effortless! Not to mention cozy. 😉

I dress casually most days, so investing in pieces which can be worn often are key when I look to make a purchase. Nothing irks me more than buying something which ends up sitting in my closet. Since I already own a more fitted, velvet jacket, I decided to go with an oversize velvet jacket for the fall 2016, and winter 2017, seasons.

This outfit took me from day into evening last Friday. I wore this outfit during the day, then for the evening, I met up with a few of my friends for dinner at Steamers in Los Gatos; if you go, be sure to have Tiramisu for dessert! It’s to-die-for!

In order to go from day into evening, I switched from my Proenza Schouler Hava satchel pictured above, to my classic black Chanel Boy Bag. Voila! Day into evening, love that!

Oversize velvet blazers can be worn so many different ways this fall season! I was in the mood to wear loose clothing on Friday, so I paired my oversize velvet blazer with baggy boyfriend jeans. For a more structured, yet still casual look, this velvet blazer can be worn with skinny jeans and heels or booties. It can also be thrown over a casual dress, or black dress. For a more “street” look, this velvet blazer can be worn with cut-off denim shorts, biker/moto boots or creepers, and a concert tee.
