Color Trends

Spring 2013 color trends: pastels

One of the big trends for spring 2013 is the pastel color palette. While bright hues and shades of neon remain important as we move into 2013 from 2012, pastel colors, which were first introduced in Paris last year, have moved to the forefront of fashion.

Pastel hues are vibrant this year. These are not baby pinks and baby blues; they are pastel candy colors which are sweet, playful and slightly edgy. Green is not soft, it is a bright mint and blue is the color of the sky on a clear day; not a baby boy’s blanket. Some brands and designers are even creating neon pastels for spring 2013. Sound like an oxymoron? It is; yet it works!

Vibrant pastel hues are easier for most people to wear, while baby soft hues can be tough for pale and dark skin-tones, vibrant pastels work with almost every skin-tone and hair color. Since spring 2013’s pastel color palette is easy to wear, it makes the perfect color palette to invest in for the upcoming warm weather season! Love that!

Many of spring 2013’s vibrant pastel hues can also be mixed and matched with certain neon hues and bright colors. One of the style trends for spring is to clash; mixing patterns and colors which are unexpected is du rigueur for the season. Spring 2013 is all about F-U-N! Love this!

The hottest pastel hues for spring 2013 include blue, green, pink, lavender, yellow and orange. What is your favorite pastel hue? Happy shopping and say fabulous

Emerald inspiration for 2013

Pantone announced last week that the Color of 2013 is a beautiful, jewel-tone green hue named “Emerald.” This vibrant shade of green has been popular over the past few seasons and is expected to explode as spring/summer 2013 and fall/winter 2013/2014 hit store shelves.

Designers showed Emerald green in every way imaginable on the runways in New York, Paris, Milan and London for the spring/summer 2013 season. In addition to shoes, apparel, handbags and jewelry, Emerald green was shown on nail polish and also on eye shadow. If it can be Emerald green, it will be!

In addition to what we wear, Emerald green is expected to be a hot color for interior design too. This will be the hue we wear, sleep and play in; fabulous!

Grey for the winter 2013 season

While burgundy was the new black for fall 2012, and blue is predicted to be the new black for spring 2013, the soft shade of grey is the new black for the current, winter 2013 season.

Grey can be found in so many forms including soft hues, dark shades of charcoal and sparkling metallics. The wonderful thing about the color grey is that it is black mixed with white; making it the ultimate replacement neutral for classic black. Love that!

The color grey is perfect for pairing with the pastel hues of winter 2013. This soft shade is also easy to wear with bright colors, patterns, prints, and sparkling metallics. Want to wear a bright, neon green top? Pair it with grey jeans or pants. Why not wear a grey dress with those new, bright blue pumps? Or grey pumps with a new, bright blue dress? Grey is so easy to wear, it is no wonder why the hue becomes the new black every few years

We found a few fabulous grey pieces around the web and assembled them into the Polyvore set below. They will look perfect with winter pastels, New Year’s glittering metallics, resort’s neon hues, and the upcoming bright colors of the spring/summer 2013 season. After all, grey is not just making an appearance for winter; this soft hue will be sticking around through the remainder of 2013.

Happy shopping, and stay fabulous
